A masterpiece created three decades ago by a legend of object theater
An ever-shining treasure trove of poetic and avant-garde fables
Founded in Russia in 1989, the performance collective AKHE has been cited as an influence by many contemporary object theater artists. This production features a signature work from 30 years ago by these masters of the object theater world. Using simple objects such as water, fire, paper, and cloth, the performance stimulates the audience’s senses and imagination through a series of powerful images and a poetic, allegorical, and unique staging enhanced by theatrical effects.
Having relocated their base to Europe, AKHE continues to work with great energy. Unbound by existing theatrical conventions, they persist in challenging the status quo through a sculptural and poetic theatrical language. We invite you to witness in Tokyo their way of life, in which they risk everything to embody what art can do for society.
Since its premiere in 1996, “White Cabin” has been performed around the world over the years alongside the members of AKHE. In 2026, this production will be brought to Tokyo unchanged, carrying with it the vivid chain of scenes woven within, alongside its witty, humorous sense of space and time.

* We cannot provide a refund for the difference if you are eligible for an age discount but you purchase a general admission ticket. In addition, if you purchase a discounted ticket that you are not eligible for, then you will be asked to pay the difference at the reception counter on the day of the performance.

AKHE ENGINEERING THEATRE
At the beginning there was the word AKHE. It was empty, and so it sounded and meant nothing.
Over the years word has accumulated shape, valence and specific weight.
Especially curious began to develop associations and aftertaste.
Now, 35 years later no one has any doubt that AKHE is an engineering theatre.
The word AKHE filled with meaning.
The artists who first spoke AKHE seriously consider themselves demiurgists, they consider any space to apply their powers.
Sometimes they rely on a human being, less often an actor, but more often they rely on metaphors to materialize them.
The AKHEans believe that combinations of objects have rhymes and diphyrambs, and time must be measured in space.
Within the word AKHE Maksim Isaev and Pavel Semchenko are artists and deconstructors, founding fathers and children playing with matches.
Vadim Gololobov is a former dark light separator, a recorder of the group and at the same time a surgically accurate manager.
And lots of artists from all over the world, bringing their own voice, language, eachtime leading to a new object.
One of them — Barbara Seifert, medically precise acting needle that stitches together the entire composition of the performances in which she takes part.
But the void within the word still remains…
